The Tyne Riverside Country Park covers about 60 hectares of land, with miles of footpaths and bridleway that allow you to explore the park and wider countryside. The landscape in the park is made up of farmland, woodland and grassland areas.
Tyne Riverside Country Park is a great place to enjoy being outdoors with lots of wildlife around you and great views along the River Tyne.

The park is on the very western edge of Newcastle, close to Newburn village and the River Tyne.
There is a cafe at Tyne Riverside Country Park. Public toilets are open during cafe opening hours.
Sports facilities are available at Newburn Activity Centre, which is at the entrance to the Country Park on Grange Road.
As much of the area near the river is flat with surfaced paths, access for wheelchair or buggy users is quite good. The Battlefield area was designed with easy access in mind, with a flat tarmac path for walkers only.
How to get to Tyne Riverside Country Park at Newburn
You can catch a bus from Newcastle city centre (number 22 from outside the Central Station).
By bike, you can follow the route of the river along Hadrian’s Way.
Tyne Riverside Country Park is signposted from the A6085. There are several car parks, including spaces reserved for the disabled. Please note: satnav will only guide you as far as Station Road in Newburn, please follow brown signs from there.
Friends of Tyne Riverside Country Park
The Friends of Tyne Riverside Country Park are a group of park users who fundraise, organise events and help decide how the park is managed. The Friends meet about four times a year. New members are always welcome!
